Impact resistance

Indicating impact resistance provides a means of specifying the capacity of an enclosure for electrical equipment to protect its contents from external impact. It is specified in the DIN EN 50102 standard and defines how much impact energy an enclosure withstands without breaking. The use of joule (newton meter – Nm) as a measuring unit has been common for many years. Luminaire manufacturers also use the IK code in this context.
