1926

Plastics engineer Joseph Reiss (1894-1958) founds the company in Tettnang; the company's first products are celluloid lids manufactured on special presses for ointment jars for the porcelain industry in Thuringia.

1954

Joint development work by lighting entrepreneurs and friends Joseph Reiss, Herbert Kampmann and Dr. Walter Zumtobel results in the first marketable plastic moisture-proof luminaire.

1999

Company is taken over by the Austrian Zumtobel Group; the company is clearly positioned as an independent OEM brand for the international luminaire industry.
